Accounting Manager

  • We are seeking a responsible, dynamic, creative and highly motivated Accounting Manager to join our Finance Department.
  • This is a full-time position in the company’s San Diego headquarters. 
  • The Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of the accounting team, ensuring that activities are aligned with Company’s goals and objectives, and comply with all applicable regulations and policies.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated income statement, Cashflow and balance sheet for a pre-IPO company on a quarterly basis.
  • Oversee the creation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements and explanation of variances from budget.
  • Oversee the preparation of cash flow statements and related information.
  • Oversee the review of all charges to general ledger accounts for reasonableness and accuracy.
  • Ensure cash disbursements are made timely and accurately, reviewing and approving accounts payable transactions
  • Participate in accounting system expansion projects necessary to accommodate new commercial business processes
  • Review G/L account reconciliations.
  • Work with external auditors to support annual audit and assist with their review of company information.
  • Oversee maintenance and testing of internal controls over general accounting.
  • Use critical thinking and attention to detail to help ensure financial statements are free from misstatement.
  • Work on complex issues which require input from multiple sources and innovative problem solving.
  • Prepare or Review financial information included in external presentations
  • Special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum 6 years of Accounting experience.
  • BA or BS degree required (Accounting or Business Administration with emphasis on Accounting highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, with ability to build productive professional relationships and promote a team atmosphere.
  • Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office Word at an intermediate level and Excel at an advanced level.
  • Good judgment and reasoning skills.
  • Problem identification, analysis, and solving.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to influence, motivate, increase productivity, promote teamwork, and maintain a positive image both within the department and as a representative and employee of the utility.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is preferred.
