Associate Scientist/Scientist, Informatics

San Diego, CA

• We are seeking a responsible, dynamic, creative, and highly motivated Informatics Associate/Scientist that will work within the research and development group as a member of our Informatics team. 
• This is a full-time position in the company’s San Diego headquarters.

Specific Responsibilities

• Configure and be principal administrator of a laboratory information system (LIMS) providing applications such as an electronic lab notebook, data repository, chemical registry, sample management, and chemical and assay analysis tools.
• Management/stewardship of the backend database and webserver in addition to providing support and solutions for end user requests and issues.
• Perform analysis and create visualizations from high throughput sequencing and other similar large datasets.
• Data mining of public and internal datasets.
• Extraction and storage into relational or graph databases.
• Application of academic and internal toolkits and pipelines
• Utilization of statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms to uncover new insights within our informatics deliverables including biomarker and drug discovery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science or related field.
• Experience writing and optimizing SQL for Oracle/MySQL/Postgres databases and strong understanding of relational databases. Experience with graph databases a plus.
• Experience with web development and web application frameworks. Full stack web-development experience a plus.
• Basic knowledge of chemistry, molecular biology, and genomics/proteomics. Experience with NGS, specifically RNAseq analysis a plus.
• Strong programming capabilities in scripting languages (Python, Perl, Javascript) and proficient with Java or C++.
• Experience with R and statistical analysis strongly desired.
• Experience working within the Linux/Unix environment.
• Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently
