Research Associate, Neuropharmacology and Immunology

  • We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Research Associate to join our Neuropharmacology and Immunology team in the R&D division to contribute to preclinical research programs aimed at the development of treatments for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.  
  • This is a full-time position in the company’s San Diego headquarters.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate in vitro and in vivo experiments to support the oncology and neurodegenerative programs.
  • Perform cell and molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to, Western Blotting, ELISA, RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, Flow cytometry
  • Experience with standard cell culture techniques, as well as isolating and working with primary, blood- or tissue-derived cells from mouse and human tissues.
  • Capability/willingness to perform in vivo experiments.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot, solve difficult problems, and propose solutions related to assay design and execution.
  • Analyze and document experimental data in electronic notebooks in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with company policies.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in biology, cell biology, or related discipline, with 2+ years of additional laboratory experience in molecular biology, experience working in industry is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture (adherent & suspension cultures) and cell-based assays (e.g. proliferation, viability, luminescence assays).
  • Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, such as qRT-PCR, RNA-seq, Western blotting, ELISA as well as flow cytometry and plate-reader based activity assays.
  • Prior experience in animal handling a plus.
  • Capable of both independent- and team-oriented work, collaborating across disciplines, and training junior staff.
  • Adaptive and a quick learner, capable of managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Highly motivated, punctual and reliable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic;
  • Execution focused, team-oriented with an ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced work environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Level will be commensurate with experience
