Medical Writer, Medical Affairs

  • Samumed is currently looking for a Medical Writer to join its Medical Affair team.
  • The Medical Writer will assist authors in the writing of scientific publications including medical communications for congresses, journals and scientific exchange.
  • S/he will primarily support the Medical Affairs team and will interface with the Preclinical, Clinical and Biostatistics functions when necessary. Strong organizational skills and ability to understand medical and scientific content are essential.
  • The Medical Writer will work across multiple therapy areas.
  • Reporting to Sr. Director of Medical Affairs, the position is a full-time role in Samumed’s San Diego office.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Writing, editing and reviewing manuscripts supportive of company publication strategies across all therapeutic areas
  • Producing, reviewing and submitting medical communications for congresses and scientific exchange, including, abstracts, posters and slide presentations
  • Ensuring quality control review of documents prior to external communication
  • Providing expert consultation to other members of the team

Requirements

  • Doctorate level scientific degree from a recognized academic institution. Master’s level with relevant experience will also be considered
  • 2 years industry experience in medical writing required
  • American Medical Writing Association (AMWA) certification or other is preferred
  • Strong, demonstrable comprehension of scientific and medical data
  • High attention to detail in written and oral communications.
  • Project management experience with proven ability to deliver projects to deadlines
  • Ability to work in cross matrix, cross functional teams with excellent interpersonal skills under tight deadlines
