Research Associate, Biology (In Vivo)

  • We are seeking a responsible, dynamic, creative and highly motivated Research Associate to join our R&D division to contribute to preclinical research and discovery.
  • This position is a full-time position in the company’s San Diego headquarters.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute animal breeding and animal disease model studies including dosing (IP, IV, PO, SC), behavioral measurements and tissue harvesting as required.
  • Develop appropriate in vitro biochemical, molecular and cell-based assays
  • Develop and perform in vivo animal models (mouse and rat) for various disease indications
  • Design and execute in vitro experiments (plate-based and/or flow cytometry), molecular assays (NGS, Western Blotting, ELISA, etc.) and animal models as necessary to support target discovery, validation, mechanism of action, drug development and biomarker selection.
  • Perform tissue culture work including mammalian cell lines and primary cells.
  • Analyze and document experimental data in electronic notebooks in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the company rules.
  • Present scientific data to colleagues and assist in the preparation of internal and external presentations (presentations, posters, publications).
  • Perform additional general duties to support the safe and efficient operation of the laboratory as required.
  • Efficiently managing scheduling of studies, and managing own time to complete assigned work by due date.


  • B.S. or M.S. in Biological Sciences or related field
  • At least 2+ years of laboratory experience with animals (mouse, rat). Prior industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with musculoskeletal and/or degenerative disease animal models, dosing (IP, IV, PO, SC), behavioral measurements and tissue harvesting required
  • Broad knowledge of Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Histology, Imaging
  • Competency in conducting mammalian cell culture is desired.

  • Level will be commensurate with experience
